Irrfan's role cut in 'A Mighty Heart' in Midday

Actor Irrfan Khan is miffed with the makers of the Hollywood film A Mighty Heart. Reason? A considerable portion of role has been chopped off the final cut.However, Khan believes in maintaining a dignified silence.Says a source, "Irrfan has never felt so low. He just can't believe that his role in A Mighty Heart has been slashed to such an extent. He had worked very hard for the role. However, he prefers not to make his anger public, but has shared his feelings with some friends in the industry. One of them is Mahesh Bhatt." Brave heartWhen contacted, Khan says he is not upset that his role has been chopped. "It's okay. Such things happen. A Mighty Heart is a complicated film to put together. Angelina's (Jolie) role too must have been chopped off," he quips.Bhatt speaksThe frank and fearless Bhatt does not beat round the bush. He admits that Khan had vented his frustration against the makers of A Mighty Heart. "Irrfan spoke to me soon after he returned from the US. He sounds heartbroken and unhappy." Told you soBhatt says that he had warned Khan about this when he signed the film. "I'd told him even before he started shooting that Americans are backstabbers. He did not believe me," he says. "The Jewish lobby is responsible for scaling down the Islamic character that Irrfan plays in the film." Coming back to the issue, Bhatt says Irrfan has come back sadder but wiser.Directed by Michael Winterbottom, A Mighty Heart stars Angelina Jolie, Irrfan Khan, Dan Futterman, Archie Panjabi, Will Patton and Denis O'Hare.
