Salmanbhai vs Himeshbhai in Mumbai Mirror

Once upon a time when a struggling music composer named Himesh Reshammiya came into the film industry, he was taken under Salman Khan's wings. Today, the two don't even speak to each other anymore. And now, when Himesh has moved into acting, Salman is nowhere around to extend his blessings. What happened between the two? When questioned about his fallout with Sallu, Himesh evades the question. Then he reluctantly admits, "Salman and I did have a difference of opinion over a concert in Nagpur a year ago. But it was sorted out. And if we don't meet often it's only because we're both busy with our respective careers."To hash a loose chronology of events, the story began with Salman's eagerness to play godfather to new talent. (Incidentally, he was the first to click Hrithik Roshan's pictures and also to encourage him to streamline his body.) But no new talent seemed to have caught Salman's creative fancy as strongly as Himesh did. Salman not only introduce the talented Himesh to his friends, he also made sure that Himesh got plum assignments like Kahin Pyar Na Ho Jaye, Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya, Yeh Hai Jalwa and Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya. He even went as far as to say 'No Himesh, no Salman' to producers, just to ensure assignments for his protégé.In fact Himesh got his first big break, Bandhan on Salman's insistence. The turning pointing in Himesh's career was the chartbusters in Tere Naam. That too was courtesy Salman. Himesh never ceased to be grateful to Salman and referred to the star as 'God.'Things changed drastically between them after Himesh attained nasal superstardom with Aashiq Banaya Aapne two years ago.Says our source, "Suddenly Himesh was hugely much in demand and not at Salman's beck and call anymore. Salman's sensitive side revolted to this development."The flashpoint in their relationship was reached about a year ago. That's when, according to common friends, the two simply stopped speaking to each other. Yet the fact that Himesh's name no longer occurs in any Salman starrer is a clear indication that one more seemingly unbreakable filmi friendship has come to a bitter end.
